stir
bring to gentle boil, partly cover with lid, reduce heat to medium low - gentle simmer
simmer for 20-30 minutes until water is absorbed
turn off and close lid, sit for 5-10 minutes
warm rest of coconut milk (no boil) ~5 minutes, add brown sugar if required
